PURPOSE: To increase the yield of a formed material, by carrying out vacuum forming in such a way that at least on side of the material supported by a support frame is attached on the forming surface of a mold by a pressing member airtightly.
CONSTITUTION: After the material P to be formed such as a thermoplastic resin sheet or film supported by the material supporting frame 22 is heated to be softened, a male mold 21 on which a base material B is placed is raised while the pressing member 24 is lowered, so that at least one side of the material P may be brought in firm contact on the molding surfce of the male mold 21 by the pressing member 24. Then the inside of the male mold 21 is evacuated and the material P is brought in firm contact with the base material B and formed, so that a formed item 20 wherein the material P is formed sticking to part of the base material B is obtained. Thus, at least one side of the formed material may be minimized as a formed item in size, so that waste after the forming can be minimized.
