In this method for selecting cosmetic, the face of a patient is divided into a portion (T zone) (1) composed of the nose and forehead, a second portion (2) composed of the circumferences of the eyes and mouth, and a third portion (3) composed of cheeks and a cosmetic is selected from among cosmetics for dry skins, cosmetics for ordinary skins, cosmetics for fatty skins, cosmetics for fatty dry skins, partially used cosmetics for excessively fat secreting portions, and partially used cosmetics for dry portions by using a balance map which is prepared for selecting cosmetics and on which the fat secreting states and dry states of the whole face and the portions (1), (2), and (3) are plotted on two axes.
