Abstract:

PURPOSE: To selectively remove H2S from a fluid mixture contg. the H2S and CO2 at need by treating the fluid mixture with an aq. soln. contg. high purity triethanolamine.

CONSTITUTION: The fluid mixture is treated by the aq. soln. contg. the high purity triethanolamine, by which the H2S is selectively removed from the fluid mixture contg. the H2S and the CO, at need. Any H2S-contg. fluid mixtures regardless of whether natural or synthetic are included as the fluid mixture which can be treated. The representative fluid mixture includes, besides, the H2S, CO2, carbon disulfide, prussic acid, carbonyl sulfide, satd. or unsatd. hydrocarbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, inert gas or the like. The triethanolamine includes other by-products formed at the time of producing the same.
