To provide a correlation type gas leakage method which can calculate the number of acoustic sensors necessary to specify a leakage position of the gas duct by using one acoustic sensor.
The method for sensing the gas leakage comprises the steps of disposing the one acoustic sensor M at a predetermined position of the gas duct, comparing a sensing signal captured by the sensor M with a waveform spectrum of the case that there is no leakage, and specifying the number of the sensors which can sense the leakage position by a correlation method to one or two based on information of a time difference from the sensing signals of the first peak value and the second peak value detected in delay from the sensing signal of the first peak value and information of an amplitude of the sensing signal of a second peak value when the leakage is sensed.
