To provide a method for separating iridium, allowing economical separation and collection of iridium from refractories containing iridium.
This method is a method for separating and collecting iridium from the refractories containing iridium. The refractories that are granulated substances each having a particle size ≥100 μm and ≤5 mm are sorted by specific gravity and are separated into high specific gravity substances and low specific gravity substances, and beneficiating granulated substances each having a particle size ≥10 μm and ≤300 μm of the low specific gravity substances are performed with floatation. When leaching iridium from the refractories in hydrochloric acid and collecting iridium, an amount of iridium capable of being collected to an amount of the dissolved refractories can be relatively increased as compared to when dissolving all the refractories by hydrochloric acid or the like. Because performing the specific gravity sorting and the floatation used in general ore dressing, and selecting the granulated substances each having a large iridium content, it is not necessary to use a special chemical or device so as to separate and collect iridium, and the separation collection of iridium becomes easy.
