Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enhance separation efficiency in separating an org. liquid mixture through pervaporation, by using a membrane of a copolymer of perfluorovinyl ether having a specified structure and a fluorinated ethylenically unsatd. monomer.

CONSTITUTION: Perfluorovinyl ether, such as CF2=CFO(CF2)1W8COOR or CF2= CFO(CF2)1W8COF, and a fluorinated ethylenically unsatd. monomer such as tetrafluoroethylene, trifluorochloroethylene, or hexafluoropropylene, are copolymerized in the presence of a known polymerization initiator, and formed into a polymer membrane. The obtained membrane is a nonporous uniform membrane composed of a carboxylic type fluorinated resin, and use of this membrane permits an org. liquid mixture to be separated with high separation coefft. and permeation rate by pervaporation.
