To provide a technique for the resolution of an optically active substance by recognizing a stereochemical structure of a helical molecule (helical compound such as oligopeptide).
The invention provides a method for separating a right-handed or a left-handed spiral molecule from a mixture of the right-handed helical molecule and the left-handed helical molecules. The separation method uses a cyclic compound composed of a cyclic structure part containing two helical supports having the same right-handed or left-handed helical direction and a part placed between the supports and interacting with both terminals of the helical molecule and having a void capable of including the helical molecule. Optical resolution is carried out by forming an associate of the objective helical molecule and the cyclic compound and dissociating the helical molecule from the associate.
