PURPOSE: To separate p-chloronitrobenzene in high purity economically and efficiently by easy operation, by pressing an isomeric mixture containing chloronitrobenzene containing the p-isomer under heating and specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: An isomeric mixture of chloronitrobenzene containing the p-isomer is pressed at 30W80°C under ≥10kg/cm2, preferably 50W80°C under 20W 800kg/cm2 pressure to separate and purify the aimd p-chloronitrobenzene. The pressing treatment is carried out by charging a raw material 5 into a pressure- resistant vessel 3, pressurizing the vessel 1 with a pressurizing piston 3, removing a liquid material contained in the mixture through small holes 2 at the bottom of the vessel 1 as a drain to the outside, and obtaining the remaining solid as the aimed material.
