Abstract:
PURPOSE: To stably and readily recover a rare earth metal in a high yield by employing a water-insoluble organic solvent of formula I or II instead of a water-soluble complexing agent in a solvent extraction method.
CONSTITUTION: A water-insoluble organic solvent containing a compound of objective I and/or II (but R1-4 are 8-20C saturated or unsaturated alkyl; X is O or NH) is brought into contact with an aqueous solution containing the com pound of a rare earth element to selectively extract the rare earth metal com pound in the aqueous phase. The rare earth metal extracted in the water- insoluble phase is reversely extracted with an aqueous solution containing a mineral acid.
