Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate and recover metallic aluminum granules from other glass granules in water by utilizing difference in specific gravity or the like by subjecting lumpy glass to pulverizing treatment to form into granules of suitable grain size, adding chemicals of petroleums and chemicals of waxes thereto, stirring and kneading the glass pulverized materials and the chemicals and subjecting the granules of the glass pulverized materials to surface treatment.
SOLUTION: As the petroleum chemicals, kerosene, gas oil, liq. paraffin, vaseline, the mixtures thereof or the like are given, as the chemicals of fats and oils, vegetable oil, animal oils or the like are given, and as the waxes, haze waxes, bees waxes or the like can be used. As for the surface treatment, a suitable amt. of water is added together with the chemicals, and the chemicals can be used as emulsion. By this surface treatment, the surfaces of the metallic aluminum granules in the glass pulverized materials are made hydrophobic, and the surfaces of the other glass granules are made hydrophilic. After that, the metallic aluminum granules are separated to recover from the other glass granules in water by the difference in specific gravity or the floatability thereof.
