Abstract:
To separate and remove salt from the fused salt electrolyzing cathode deposit consisting of a lanthanuide and/or an actinide.
Cadmium is added to the cathode deposit consisting of a lanthanide and/or a actinide, the mixture is melted to form a soln., the soln. is cooled and solidified to separate and remove a salt from the metallic part, metallic cadmium is separated and removed from the metallic part at a temp. below the temp. where metallic cadmium is vaporized, cadmium is roughly separated and removed from the metallic part at a temp. where the metallic cadmium is vaporized, the soln. is further heated to decompose an intermetallic compd. and/or an alloy, and the cadmium is ehtirely vaporized.
