Title:
METHOD OF SEPARATION OF HYDROCARBON AND ISOMERIZATION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS51136603
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
1504567 Paraffin adsorption and isomerization process UNION CARBIDE CORP 15 May 1975 [16 May 1974] 20513/75 Heading C5E An isomerization process comprises providing three fixed adsorbent beds, each having essentially the same adsorption capacity and void space and containing particles comprising a crystalline zeolitic molecular sieve adsorbent having an effective pore diameter of from greater than 4 to less than 6 Angstroms, providing a reactor containing a zeolitic molecular sieve isomerization catalyst, and further providing as adsorption feed a mixture of normal and non-normal hydrocarbon compounds, the normal paraffin component of which comprises n-pentane and n-hexane, the adsorption feed being initially provided to the adsorption beds and/or the reactor, adsorbing n-pentane and n-hexane in the fixed adsorbent beds by passage of the adsorption feed and/or product from the reactor into one end of each of the beds and recovering the non-absorbed non-normal hydrocarbon compounds from the other end of each bed, desorbing the n-pentane and n-hexane from each of the beds by purging with hydrogen in a direction countercurrent to the direction of inflow of the adsorption feed and/or product from the reactor and passing the effluent hydrogen, n-pentane and n-hexane in admixture through the reactor containing the zeolitic molecular sieve isomerization catalyst under isomerization conditions, the three beds being desorbed in a manner such that no more than two beds are being desorbed at any given time and the terminal portion of the desorption step in one of the three beds is contemporaneous with the initial portion of the desorption step in another of the three beds.
