Abstract:

To provide a method for the separation of prolamin proteins to easily purify the prolamin proteins in high purity, increase the decoloration degree and enable the stable economical production of zein.

The invention provides (1) a method for the separation of prolamin proteins from an aqueous acetone solution containing prolamin proteins by adding acetone to the solution to increase the acetone concentration to 81-90 wt.% and separate and recover the insolubilized prolamin protein as precipitate and (2) a method for the separation of prolamin proteins from an aqueous ethanol solution containing prolamin proteins by adding ethanol to the solution to increase the ethanol concentration to 96-99 wt.% and separate and recover the insolubilized prolamin protein as precipitate.
