To allow even a multi-channel system of several tens or more channels to be applied to by setting N-sets of channels, where a difference between frequencies of two channels always exists, so as to form a unit group and by setting such a group repetitively and periodically so that channel interference is minimized.
A channels set is defined for found and optimized unequal interval channels of a proper number so that an interval of two optional channels is always different and the channels are arranged periodically. Thus, channel interference due to mixture of four optical waves through a fiber is effectively suppressed and the extension of channels is available without revision of existing channel slots. Thus, the multi-channel optical transmission system with compatibility has been realized.
