Abstract:
To provide a method having high productivity and efficiency and capable of producing high-quality ferronickel using a nickel oxide ore as a raw material.SOLUTION: There is a provided a smelting method for producing ferronickel by forming pellets from a nickel oxide ore as a raw material and reducing the pellets, which comprises: a mixing treatment step S1 of mixing a nickel oxide ore and a carbonaceous reducing agent; a mixture molding step S2 of molding the resulting mixture into pellets; and a reduction step S3 of heating the pellets at a predetermined reduction temperature, followed by subjecting to reduction treatment. In the reduction step S3, the reduction treatment is performed by maintaining a liquid phase ratio of the pellets at the reduction temperature in a range of 52 mass% or more and 65 mass% or less at a weight ratio.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
