Title:
METHOD FOR SMELTING STAINLESS STEEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH09227918
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a stainless steel melting method using a bottom-blown converter type vessel capable of reducing the unit requirement of carbonaceous material by using electric power as a part of the heat source thereby eliminating the problem of P-enriching in molten iron and executing the operation with higher thermal efficiency and a higher productivity than the conventional electric furnace.

In a melting reduction method of chromium ore executed while holding the carbonaceous material 7 quantity in molten slag layer 6 to 100-400kg/ton of molten slag by using the molten slag at 100-300kg/ton of molten iron in the bottom blown converter type vessel 1, at the time of using E as electric energy obtd. by dipping the lower end of an electrode into the center part of the molten slag layer 6 and C as combustion energy obtd. by burning while supplying oxygen-containing gas and the carbonaceous material 7 from a part of the inner wall surface of the converter type vessel 1 into the molten slag layer, E/(E+C) is regulated to 0.3-0.7.
