To providing a method for starting an apparatus for heating and dechlorinating incineration ash which can prevent ash contg. undecomposed dioxin from being discharged and can obtain high dioxin removing rate from the beginning of operation.
In a method for starting an apparatus for heating and dechlorinating incineration ash wherein incineration ash 2 discharged from a refuse incinerator 1 is introduced into a heat-treating apparatus 5 to decompose hazardous org. chlorine compd. included in the incineration ash 2, after the heat-treating apparatus 5 is heated at 500°C or higher, incinaration ash being 20-50% of the rated load is introduced at least 5 min. and is kept at 450°C or higher to decompose hazardous org. chlorine compd. included in this incineration ash and thereafter, amt. of feeding of the incineration ash is gradually increased up to 100% of the rated load for 30 min. or more.
