Title:
METHOD OF STARTING SYNCHRONOUS MOTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS61102179
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To eliminate an output transformer by starting a synchronous motor by a power converter from a low frequency, then accelerating it to a rated speed or higher, and then controlling so that the motor terminal voltage becomes the prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:A synchronous motor 6 is accelerated by a power converter 3 to a rated speed or higher. Then, the power of the converter 3 is stopped, and a switch 7 is opened. A field current is supplied by an exciting power source 8 during the deceleration of the motor 6 to raise the terminal voltage of the motor 6 to coincide with a power source voltage. When the frequency of the motor 6 becomes the value within the prescribed range from the power source frequency, a switch 11 is closed by a closure signal from a synchronizing unit 18. Thus, an output transformer is eliminated from the system, and the output voltage of the power converter can be selected to the value to economically manufacture.
