Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent afterburn or backfire by idly running an engine by a mechanical drive means to discharge gaseous fuel from an exhaust pipe after disconnecting fuel supply and before an engine rotation speed becomes zero in stopping action of the engine itself.

CONSTITUTION: Hydrogen flow regulation valves 12, 13 and a closed type solenoid valve 14 in a hydrogen supply line 9b downstream of a pressure regulator 10, downstream lines are set as hydrogen supply line 9c, 9d, and hydrogen is injected from a hydrogen injection valve 15. When an engine is stopped, an engine idle rotation switch 75 is closed for a specified time before an engine rotation speed becomes zero, and a starter 71 is actuated for a specified time to idly running the engine. During the period the solenoid valve 14 is closed by the controller 70, supply of hydrogen gas is disconnected, and residual hydrogen mixed air is discharged from an exhaust passage 47. Afterburn or backfire can thus be prevented.
