Title:
METHOD OF STOPPING MOLTEN CARBONATE FUEL CELL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3159513
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the cracking of an electrolytic plate by thermal shock and improve the reliability of a cell by holding the temperature of the cell at a temperature less than the coagulation point of electrolyte and of 290°C or more.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of stopping a molten carbonate fuel cell, the temperature of the cell is held within the range from less than the coagulation point of electrolyte to 290°C or more, desirably 350°C-290°C, whereby the cracking by heat cycle property is perfectly prevented, and the working property at stopping is never lost. The deterioration of cell performance by the hydration and moisture absorption of lithium aluminate used as an electrolyte holding material is prevented.
