Abstract:
To provide a technique of easily controlling the hardness of a weld zone.
The technique is a method for strengthening a weld zone of a high strength carbon-steel material. When butt-welding the high strength carbon-steel material containing <0.05 mass% C by a plasma welding method, a mixed gas is supplied to a plasma arc irradiation part so as to form a solidified part with a bead-shape where carbon is enriched, wherein the mixed gas is prepared by mixing a rare gas and a gas containing one or more gases selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbon-based gases and/or carbon oxide-based gases, in an amount of ≥30 vol.% and <80 vol.%, based on the whole mixed gas.
