PURPOSE: To prevent generation of difference in the load on a linear cathode and lessen dispersion of the stretched cathode setting force.
CONSTITUTION: On a retaining table, No.1 stopper jig 16a and No.2 stopper jig 16b are installed, wherein the former 16a hinders a riser piece 13k of No.1 mounting spring 13a from deflecting toward a back plate 1 while the latter 16b admits a riser piece 13k of No.2 mounting spring 13b into deflecting toward the back plate 1 to a certain extent, and thereupon one end of a linear cathode 2 is connected with a mounting piece 13m of the No.2 mounting spring 13b. After the riser piece 13k of this No.2 mounting spring 13b is deflected to the position as restricted by the No.2 stopper jig 16b, the other end of the linear cathode 2 is connected with the a mounting piece 13m of the No.1 mounting spring 13a followed by stretching, and finally the No.1, No.2 stopper jigs 16a, 16b are removed.
