Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce over of the sealed part of a sealing member, to stabilize sealing performance to prolong the life of the sealing member and to prevent the surface of a rolled steel plate from being damaged.
CONSTITUTION: In order to form a sealed space of cooling liquid between the surfaces of rolling rolls 1, a sealing holder is arranged along a square having two sides adjacent to the surfaces of the rolling rolls 1 and parallel to the rolling roll shafts and two sides vertical to them. A cylindrical sealing member 21 having a surface covered with an elastic member is supported rotably on the sealing holder 17 parallel to a rolling roll shaft. The cylindrical sealing member 21 has, at both end parts of it, cylindrical sealed surfaces for transmitting rotation with in contact with the surface of the rolling roll 1 and transmits the rotation of the rolling roll 1 and has, at the intermediate part, a cylindrical small diameter sealed part smaller in diameter than the sealed surface for transmitting rotation. Compressed gas is injected from an air nozzle toward the gap to prevent leakage of liquid from a gap between the cylindrical small diameter sealed part and the surface of the rolling roll 1.
