PURPOSE: To produce an allylic compound under a mild condition by reacting an allylic alcohol with a nucleating agent in the presence of a Pd compound, a phosphine and CO2 and in the presence of absence of an alkali(ne earth) metal (bi)carbonate, etc.
CONSTITUTION: An allylic alcohol compound of the formula (R1-R3 are each H, 1-8C hydrocarbon group) is reacted with a nucleating agent in the presence of a Pd compound (e.g. palladium acetylacetonato), a phosphine (e.g. trimethylphosphine, bisdibutylphosphinoethane) and CO2 at ordinary temperature to produce an allylic compound. Examples of the nucleating agent incudes primary amines, secondary amines and active hydrogen-containing organic compounds [e.g. ethylamine, CH2(CN)2]. The presence of an alkali(ne earth) metal (bi)carbonate or a tertiary amine permits the advantageous proceeding of the reaction. Various allylic compounds thus obtained are useful as raw materials for medicines, agricultural chemicals, perfumes, etc.
