Abstract:

To subject a cellulosic fiber including cotton to graft polymerization treatment in the form of a fiber or a wad without causing the deterioration of the base material and the worsening of the feeling.

The method for subjecting a fibrous substance to radiation graft polymerization treatment comprises graft polymerizing a polymerizable vinyl monomer onto the fibrous substance in the form of a fiber or a wad by using radiation graft polymerization, and the fibrous substance is irradiated with radiation in an oxygen-eliminated state, and in the oxygen-eliminated state, a liquid containing the polymerizable vinyl monomer is percolated and brought into contact with the fibrous substance having been irradiated with radiation.
