To provide a method for sulfonating a compound, capable of performing a more accurate sulfonation control for the compound exhibiting a hardly soluble property in organic solvents.
This method for sulfonating the compound having <0.1 solubility in the organic solvents is provided by performing (a) a process of mixing the compound with conc. sulfuric acid to synthesize a synthetic precursor, (b) a process of adding an organic solvent exhibiting a solubility to the synthetic intermediate to dissolve the synthetic intermediate for preparing synthetic intermediate solution, (c) a process of preparing a carbonyl sulfate salt of a necessary molar amount from the conc. sulfuric acid and an carboxylic anhydride, and (d) a process of preparing the sulfonated compound by adding the carbonyl sulfate salt into the synthetic precursor solution.
