PURPOSE: To easily and safely obtain the compd. without side reaction by separating a diluent from a product formed by sulfonation, etc., of an org. component with SO3 in the presence of a carboxylic acid ester which is liquid under reaction conditions as the diluent.
CONSTITUTION: The pale color reaction product is obtd. by the sulfonation and/or sulfatization of the org. component with the SO3 in the presence of the diluent. At this time, the carboxylic acid ester which is liquid under the reaction conditions of formula I [R1 is alkyl nor branched in an α position; X is H, formula II (R2, R3, R4 are F and/or Cl, one among R2, R3, R4 is H, etc.)], is used as the diluent and the carboxylic acid ester is separated by above all distillation and/or liquid extraction from the reaction product after the end of the reaction.
