Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable the production of a cast slab having good surface characteristic by controlling gap between a mold and a solidified shell and securing flowing rate of lubricator according to the casting condition.
CONSTITUTION: By a device providing electric conductive coils 3 possible to vertically shift, for conducting high frequency current around the mold 2 of an inner water cooling structure having plural slits 1, electromagnetic force is impressed near the meniscus on molten metal in the mold to curve the molten metal surface 8 to the projecting state, and also by adjusting the effective value of current to the coil and/or the relative position between the meniscus and the electric conductive coils 3, the control of the flow rate of the lubricator is executed. Further, plural number of the coils 3 are made to be mutually independent, and by modulating these current values, the molten metal near the meniscus is oscillated as meandering and the flowing of the lubricating agent into the molten metal can be promoted.
