In the method of suppressing production of the odor, by which the odor produced from the sludge dehydrated cake is suppressed by continuously or in batch adding the deodorant to the sludge dehydrated cake before or when the sludge dehydrated cake is charged into a storage tank, the addition rate of the deodorant necessary for deodorizing the sludge dehydrated cake at least until the sludge dehydrated cake storage period is finished is determined by the calibration relation between the preliminarily determined addition rate of the deodorant and the deodorization effect keeping period, and the deodorant is added according to the determined result.
