To develop a method for surface treatment of ferritic/martensitic 9-12% Cr steel capable of changing structure of the ferritic/martensitic 9-12% Cr steel so as to perform remarkably improved oxidation behavior and durability improved to solid particle erosion at using temperature exceeding 500C in steam, especially at using temperature around 650C.
This method is to treat a surface of the ferritic/martensitic 9-12% Cr steel for the purpose of achieving an improved oxidation behavior and the durability increased resistance to solid particle erosion at application temperature of above 500C, in particular around 650C, in steam. This method includes a known shot peening of the surface of the steel with steel particles in a first step, and, subsequently, shot peening with glass particles in a second step, optionally, the surface of the steel being smoothed in a following third step. A subsequent additional heat treatment is unnecessary.
