Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject method in which a high yield is achieved by reaction at ambient temperature as a means for synthesizing 4-methyl-4- hydroxy-2-pentanone according to the aldol condensing reaction of acetone.
CONSTITUTION: The objective method is to bring an acetone-insoluble fine particulate substance having the particle surface capable of assuming the basicity into contact with acetone in synthesizing 4-methyl-4-hydroxy-2-pentanone according to the aldol condensing reaction of the acetone.
