Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing chiral kynurenine and related compounds at high chemical and chiral purity which is suitable for large scale production.SOLUTION: The method involves the use of chloroacetonitrile in the presence of aluminum trihalide and boron trihalide to obtain an acylated aniline compound, the use of acetamide diethyl malonate to alkylate the acylated aniline compound to obtain a diethyl ester compound, the removal of a carboxyl group from the diethyl ester compound to obtain an acylated kynurenine compound, and the decomposition of the acylated kynurenine compound using an enzyme.SELECTED DRAWING: None
