Abstract:
To provide a method for synthesizing oxalic acid from carbon dioxide in a high yield.
The method for synthesizing oxalic acid comprises: (A) allowing a metal complex, which includes a metal atom, a nitrogen-containing compound having three monovalent nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocyclic groups, and an α-keto acid expressed by formula (1), to react with carbon dioxide in the presence of oxygen to produce an oxalic acid-containing complex; and (B) treating the oxalic acid-containing complex to separate oxalic acid. In formula (1), R1 represents a 1-12C hydrocarbyl group optionally having a substituent.
