To suitably compensate for artifacts due to high density materials in dental CT imaging (computed tomography imaging) or the like.
A method of providing a corrected reconstructed CT image includes: accessing data for CT images of a subject, identifying the images that includes high density features; detecting and classifying the high density feature in each of the high density features image 704; and forming a compensation image 804 by distributing pixels representative of tissue over the classified high density feature. A difference sinogram WsM is generated for each high density features image 704 by subtracting a sinogram M of the high density features image 704 from a sinogram W of the original image 702 (step 308), a final sinogram WsMaP is generated by adding a sinogram P generated according to the compensation image to the difference sinogram WsM (step 310), and the corrected reconstructed CT image is formed according to the final sinogram WsMaP (step 312).
