Abstract:

To provide a method and a system excellent in applicability, for estimating a movement center of a ship simply and effectively.

A temporary movement center g1 is set on a predetermined position near an actual movement center G of a ship, and outboard engines 3a, 3b are driven to apply a test thrust P having predetermined magnitude and direction to the temporary movement center g1. The magnitude and the direction of an angular acceleration generated in a ship by application of the test thrust P are detected, and the magnitude of the angular acceleration is compared with a predetermined threshold. When the angular acceleration is larger than the threshold, the position of the temporary movement center g1 is changed and set so that the angular acceleration converges to the threshold.
