To provide a method and a system for estimation running duration which utilizes road traffic condition information so as to correctly know an expected running duration.
This system receives routing information searched from current position to destination, when destination data is input from an user; uses the search routing information to determine as to whether interval of real-time traffic data collection can be recognized for each link from current position to destination; and reflects data for this determination result to compute passage time for each link. After determining the presence of wait time application for each link by utilizing search routing information, it estimates the additional interval and then sums up the elapsed time and the additional interval computed for each link, to obtain the total running interval.
