Abstract:
To perform effective recovery and movement of purged ink.
An inkjet printer includes: a plurality of inkjet ejectors 116; a receptacle 132 mounted adjacent to the plurality of inkjet ejectors, which has an opening 137 configured to receive ink purged from the plurality of inkjet ejectors and a discharge port 138 fluidly connected to an ink reservoir 154; and a one-way valve 140 for allowing a single conduit 160 to supply the ink to the ink reservoir 154 and for withdrawing the purged ink from the receptacle 132 into the ink reservoir 154. A bidirectional pump 158 is alternately operated in both directions to withdraw the ink from the receptacle 132 when supplying the ink into the ink reservoir 154.
