PURPOSE: To provide a method and system for polishing a work, with which the configuration of devices constituting the polishing system can be altered as any desired.

CONSTITUTION: A data terminal DT of a host computer 4 is installed for data carrier DT mounted on a plurality of pallets 2, 2 transported on the transport line 1, and also is installed a data terminal DT of a programmable controller PC or a control computer for controlling various devices arranged along the transport line 1. Every time a work or works are cast onto any pallet 2 in a work carry-in station, the work conditions and processing conditions are entered into the host computer, and the recommendable polishing conditions selected by the host computer are written in the data carrier of the applicable pallet. When this pallet is transferred to the position with various devices, the data terminal of the programmable controller reads the operation data in the data carrier, and the specified operations are performed.
