Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the illegal copying of software recorded on a recording medium.
SOLUTION: A system for preventing illegal copying is configured in such a manner that a first medium ID 112 is stored together with software 111, a second medium ID is recorded in the predetermined sector 2 of a storage medium, direct access is made to the recording place of the second medium ID in a maintenance mode, and the recording place of the second medium ID is regarded as a defective place and access is made to an alternative area 3 corresponding to the defective place in a normal mode. In executing the software, the maintenance mode is set by executing an illegal use prevention program 113 to read data from the recording place of the second medium ID, the data are compared with the first medium ID recorded together with the software, the execution of the software in the normal mode is permitted according to the result of the comparison, or the execution of the software is denied.
