To provide a refuse disposal method and a refuse disposal system in which the refuse is dried without using any hot dryer, and the heat efficiency and the production efficiency can be improved.

A refuse disposal system is provided with an incinerator 12 to incinerate the solid fuel, a waste heat boiler 14 to recover the heat of the combustion gas to be discharged from the incinerator 12 and to generate the steam of the prescribed pressure and temperature, a back-pressure turbine 16 to drop the steam pressure and temperature to the prescribed values respectively, and an indirect heating type vacuum dryer 60 in which the steam whose pressure and temperature is dropped by the back-pressure turbine 16 is a heating source. The refuse is indirectly heated in the vacuum condition with the steam of the temperature around 130°C, and dried and formed into the solid fuel, and the formed solid fuel is burned in the incinerator 12.
