Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dissolve a defect in fitting a stay bolt of a large crosshead engine to the upper part of a bed plate.
SOLUTION: A stay bolt of a large two-stroke crosshead engine passes through a stay bolt tube 14 and is fitted to the upper part of a bed plate in the higher position than the lower part 12 of a main bearing housing. In case of the stay bolt of the engine being broken, an upper piece 13a of the broken stay bolt is lifted from a cylinder section to form an opening part to provide access to handling of a broken and separated lower piece 13b of the stay bolt. The broken stay bolt is therefore taken out without separating an engine frame box from the bed plate.
