Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a protective film that is easily peelable without reducing its covering strength and coverability by adjusting the viscosity and surface tension of a peelable aqueous covering composition which consists of a specific acrylic emulsion contg. no acrylonitrile and an ultraviolet ray absorber to specified values respectively and coating an automobile outside plate coating film with the resulting covering composition.
CONSTITUTION: This method comprises: (1) copolymerizing a monomer mixture which contains an acrylate monomer as the essential component and if necessary, another polymerizable unsaturated monomer other than acrylonitrile to form an aqueous acrylic resin having a weight average molecular weight of ≥20,000; (2) blending the resulting acrylic resin with an ultraviolet ray absorber to obtain a peelable aqueous covering composition; (3) then, adjusting the viscosity and surface tension of this composition to 0.3 to 3.0Pa.s and ≤40mN/m respectively; (4) thereafter, coating the surface of a topcoat cured coating film having a 50 to 130°C glass transition temp. and is formed on an automobile outside plate by coating, with the resulting covering composition. Thus, the automobile outside plate coating film is protected with this covering film which is easily peelable without reducing its covering strength and coverability even at the time of exposing the covering film to the sunlight, etc., for a long period of time.
