To judge the quality of sealability by supplying pressure into an object to be inspected from a pressure source, exhausting the part of the pressure out of the object, stopping the supply of the pressure when the pressure arrives at the higher applied pressure than the testing pressure, continuing the exhaust ing of the pressure to reduce to the testing pressure, and observing the pressure change in the object.
One cycle of leakage test has pressure exhausting, balancing, detecting and exhausting steps. Before the pressure exhausting step, a pressurizing solenoid valve 24 is closed, and exhausting solenoid valve 25 is opened. In the pressure exhausting step, both the valves 24, 25 are opened, and pressurized air is supplied to an object 27 to be inspected by a regulator 22. When the pressure of the sensor 26 exceeds the testing pressure to arrive at the pressurized pressure, the vale 24 is closed, and the balancing step is started. The pressure is gradually lowered by the opening of the valve 25, and when sensor 26 arrives at the testing pressure, the valve 25 is closed, after an infinitesimal time is elapsed, it is transferred to the detecting step. The sealability is judged from the reference value of the change of the pressure within a predetermined time of the object 27, and then exhausted from a branch pipe line 28.
