PURPOSE: To obtain petrochemicals in high yields with good productivity, by thermally cracking raw hydrocarbons, catalytically hydrogenating the formed cracked petroleum and thermally cracking the hydrogenated cracked petroleum at a temp. higher than the cracking temp. of the raw hydrocarbons.
CONSTITUTION: A fuel hydrocarbon 1 is pressurized and introduced into a combustion zone 2, and oxygen 3 and steam 4 are fed to the zone 2 where the hydrocarbon is burnt. The resulting high-temperature combustion gas stream 5 is introduced into a reaction zone 7 and mixed with raw hydrocarbons 9, and the raw hydrocarbons are thermally cracked. The formed cracked petroleum 10 is cooled in a quenching apparatus 11. After cracked gas is separated in a gasoline fractionating column, the cracked petroleum is introduced into a hydrogenating apparatus 21 and hydrogenated in the presence of a catalyst and hydrogen 22. The hydrogenated cracked petroleum 8 is introduced into a reaction zone 8 and thermally cracked at a temp. higher than the cracking temp. of the raw hydrocarbon 9 to obtain petrochemicals such as olefins 28, arom. hydrocarbons 19, etc.
