Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method to improve reflectance for light of a polymer liquid crystal layer by which reflectance for light of specified wavelengths can be largely improved, and to provide a structural body of polymer liquid crystal layers.
CONSTITUTION: Features of this method to improve reflectance for light of a polymer liquid crystal layer in which a polymer cholesteric liquid crystal or a polymer chiral nematic liquid crystal is used are as follows. The reflectance for light of specified wavelengths is improved by forming a surfactant-contg. layer containing a fluorine-based nonionic surfactant adjacent to the polymer liquid crystal layer, or by adding a fluorine-based nonionic surfactant to the polymer liquid crystal layer itself.
