Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for accurately and efficiently simulating the fixed width of an arithmetic operation to be normally used for hardware description.
SOLUTION: This is a method for translating the arithmetic operation of a source corresponding to at least one source including a binary integer with first bit width into the arithmetic operation of a corresponding target for calculating by a processor for executing an integral arithmetic operation to a binary integer with second bit width larger than the first bit width. This method comprises a step for converting the arithmetic operation of the source into the arithmetic operation of the target having the operand of at least one target, a step for deciding whether or not the value of the non-use bits of the operand of the target has any influence on the value of the arithmetic operation of the target and whether or not any operand of the target is allowed to have one or more non-use bits having improper values, and a step for adding a correction arithmetic operation to the arithmetic operation of the target when the result of the deciding step is true, and for correcting the value of each of one or more bits having improper values before the execution of the arithmetic operation of the target.
