To permit a called subscriber to assemble a specified response message to a calling subscriber so as to transmit it by permitting an area communication service man (LEC) to transfer the call to a telephone gateway, permitting the telephone gateway to inform the called subscriber of the incoming call and to supply the option of a response to the call.

When the calling subscriber makes the telephone call to the telephone 120 of the called subscriber from a telephone 160 while the called subscriber connects a computer 100 to a data network and uses it, LEC 140 transfers a call setting request to the telephone gateway 156 of a data network service supplier 150. The telephone gateway 156 transfers the reception notice of the incoming call and option on a method for making the response to the incoming call to the computer 100 of the called subscriber. Thus, the called subscriber can emit the response message adjusted to the calling subscriber to the calling subscriber without directly communicating with the calling subscriber.
