Abstract:
Method for working up benzimidazolones of formula (I), prepd. by reacting o-phenylene diamines and urea in a water-insol. solvent, comprises (a) treating the reaction mixt. with 0.1-10 wt.% wetting agent, w.r.t. (I), of the 12-18 C alkyl sulphonate type or a mixt. of this and 0.1-10 wt.% usual antifoam w.r.t. (I); (b) adding water and removing the solvent by azeotropic distn., with stirring; and (c) filtering (I) pptd. from the aq. suspension; in which R<1>, R<2>, R<3> = H, a 1-6 C alkyl, alkoxy or alkylsulphonyl gp., Cl, Br, (substd.) phenyl, COOH, MeCO, PhCO, MeOCO, NH2CO, MeNHCO, PhNHCO, OH, CN or NO2.
