To provide a method for producing a sugar, method for producing ethanol and method for producing lactic acid, capable of performing enzymatic saccharification efficiently and therefore capable of improving the production efficiency of the sugar, production efficiency of the ethanol and production efficiency of the lactic acid, and a method for treating a biomass raw material used for the method for producing a sugar, the method for producing ethanol and the method for producing lactic acid.
This method for treating the biomass raw material is characterized by comprising (a) a process of obtaining a modified biomass raw material by treating the biomass raw material with a treating agent containing ammonia, and (b) a process of enzymatically saccharifying the modified biomass raw material with Cellobiohydrolase II (Cel6A).
