To provide a simple method which is industrially applicable and excellent in economical efficiency for treating cyanide-containing wastewater more easily and efficiently compared with a conventional method by finding out a new chemical capable of treating cyanide-containing wastewater containing cyanide components safely and more efficiently.
The method for treating the cyanide-containing wastewater, which is a method for removing the cyanide components from the cyanide-containing wastewater, has the steps of adding to the cyanide-containing wastewater an organic nitrogen-containing compound that has 5 or more carbon atoms and produces a cation in the wastewater to insolubilize the cyanide components in the wastewater in the co-presence of the cyanide components and the nitrogen-containing compound, and then performing solid-liquid separation of the insolubilized cyanide components.
